4-H Youth Development: Senior 4-H'ers

Seniors 4-H'ers are high school 4-H members. Meetings are planned and conducted by club officers and the 4-H staff. Meetings focus on community service, fellowship and 4-H development. Most Senior 4-H meetings will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the 4-H office. This is one school club that combines members from Athens Academy, North Oconee High School, Oconee County High School and Westminster Christian Academy.

Sigma Lambda Chi

Sigma Lambda Chi is the Oconee 4-H Honor Society for Senior 4-H members. Members are inducted based on their participation in certain 4-H activities and events during their Senior 4-H career. Becoming a member of Sigma Lambda Chi is not an easy task. Members must complete a long list of requirements which focus on service, leadership and citizenship. All inductees are recognized at the annual 4-H Awards Program in May.

4-H Leadership in Action

4-H Leadership in Action is a program designed to recognize the work Juniors and Seniors do in their community.

4-H Leadership in Action Awards & Recognition:

  • Local: 4-H'ers who gain local recognition status will receive a certificate.
  • Junior State Recognition: Juniors meeting the criteria for state recognition will receive a state recognition certificate. Additionally, two juniors from each district will be recognized as "Outstanding Community Leaders" and will be recognized with a plaque.
  • Senior State Recognition: Seniors will receive a state recognition certificate and may elect to apply for state competition. District finalists will compete in an interview and State Winners will receive Master 4-H Status.

4-H Scholarships

Graduating high school Seniors are eligible to apply for 4-H Scholarships. There are scholarships available to Oconee 4-H'ers from the State 4-H Office and also from Oconee County 4-H. Please click below for more information and scholarship applications:
