Egg Recall Information

The FDA has set up a new web page to help identify whether or not your eggs are involved in the recall. It shows what the carton numbers look like, how to interpret them and lists the brands and numbers affected.

If you have the brands and numbers listed, return them to the store for a refund or discard them

Laundry Tips

One of our 4H'ers in the Textile Project came up with a handy list of laundry tips to help folks get those pesky stains out of fabrics. We have had such rave reviews about these tips that we have decided to post them here for everyone:

Blood on Clothes --- Pour Hydrogen Peroxide on the stain and rinse with cold water

Lint --- Add 1 cup of bottled distilled white vinegar to the load with the detergent

Lipstick ---Use petroleum jelly

Rust & Mineral Stains ---Add 1 cup of bottled lemon juice in the wash

Soiled Shirt Collars --- Take a small paint brush and brush hair shampoo into the collar before laundering

Spaghetti Sauce Stains --- Wet the fabric and then sprinkle with powdered dish detergent. Scrub gently with a toothbrush, then rinse and launder normally

White Out and Permanent Marker Stains --- Dab some sunscreen over the stain and rub off with a paper towel. Repeat until the stain is gone.

Zippers --- To make zippers slide up and down more smoothly, rub a bar of soap over the teeth.

Ink Stains --- Put rubbing alcohol on the stain before washing

Gum on Clothing --- Brush egg whites onto gum with a toothbrush. Let stand for 15 minutes, then launder normally

Burnt Stuff on Iron --- Rub iron with aluminum foil to remove burnt starch, etc
