Putnam County 4-Her's Win State Honors

State 4-H Congress, held July 19-22in Atlanta, honored the best in the state in 4-H, and Putnam County can join that circle of winners this year.

Eryn Parker, daughter of Al Parker, attended State Congress and competed in the Performing Arts Dance project where she received the top score in her portfolio which chronicles her project and leadership work throughout the year. Eryn has worked hard this year, serving as an officer in the Northeast District, conducting a project club which involved teaching young girl’s ballet, and volunteering many hours at the Putnam County Animal Control just to name a few highlights.

Putnam County’s 4-H Shotgun team won state in Trap and Skeet and was recognized at the Annual Winner’s Banquet. The three man team is made up ofTroy Crisp, Chance Moss and Clay Porter. Rob Horton also won state recognition for taking home high individual in the Senior Skeet division. The team is coached by Dr. Sammy McFaddin and Chip Porter. The team went on to represent Georgia 4-H at the National 4-H Invitational Shoot.

Putnam’s Dairy Cattle Judging team also won state, and will represent Georgia 4-H at the National Competition this fall in Wisconsin. The team is made up of Macey Cooper, Jordan Davis, Cole Leftwich, and Jessica Moore. The team is coached by Callie Langford.

Attending State 4-H Congress with the 4-H’ers was Amanda Parnell, Putnam county’s 4-H agent. Parnell states, “I am so proud of the accomplishments of these 4-Hers and thankful to the volunteers that make it possible for Putnam County to continue to make the best better!”Trap and skeet team state congress

Congratulations to Putnam County's Poultry Judging Team! We fisished 6th place out of 22 teams in our first competition! Great Job Guys!

Cloverleaf District Project Achievement (DPA)

We had 43 4th 5th and 6th graders compete at DPA Febuary 12 at Rock Eagle 4-H center. 31 of them won 1st second or third! Congratulations to everyone who participated. Some of the 4-H'ers that competed at Cloverleaf DPA

 

Horse Club

Whether you have a horse or not, you'll have fun learning about horses along with the Morgan County Horse Club! If you want to join in the fun, call the 4-H office today to sign up.

S.A.F.E Shooting Sports

If you're interested in shooting shotgun, BB or archery, consider our 4-H target sport teams. BB is for grades 4 - 8, Archery for grades 4 - 12 and Shotgun for grades 5 - 12. If you're interested, give us a call at the 4-H office. We'll give your name and number to the coach, and they'll give you a call with all the details!

General Info

We are located in the old National Guard Armory Building, 663 Godfrey Highway, Suite 101. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are closed from noon till 1:00 p.m. for lunch.
