Congratulation - Rabun County Wildlife Judging Team!
The Rabun County 4-H Senior Wildlife Judging team placed second at the 2009 State 4-H Wildlife Judging Contest November 7 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA.
Team members were Elizabeth Chastain, Christy Dills, Robert Dills, Gabrielle Gilley, Kayla Mullen and Isaac Williams. Kayla Mullen was the second high scoring individual in the State 4-H Wildlife Judging Contest. Rabun County Junior team members were Bryce Shackleford and Bobby Young.
Students learned to identify common wildlife foods, judge quality of wildlife habitat from aerial photos, recommend wildlife habitat management practices, develop a rural wildlife management plan, and develop an urban wildlife management plan. These 4-H members have been dedicating their time and working diligently over the past 2 months to prepare to compete for this honor.
With the help of the coaches, Mr. Justin Tyson, Rabun County Extension Coordinator and Mrs. Donna Young, Rabun County 4-H Program Assistant, their hard work was rewarded.
4-H is a community of 6 million young people across America learning leadership, citizenship, communication and life skills. In Georgia, the 4-H program is a part of the University of Georgia Extension and headquartered on the UGA campus in Athens. For more information about 4-H or how to get involved contact our office (706-782-3113).
