Kathleen Spratley will be the contact for volunteers for the 7th Annual Augusta Home & Garden Show. Volunteers are assigned on a first come basis.
- Set-up / Take-down
If you have volunteered for set-up or take-down dress casually … there’s a good chance you’ll get dirty and sweaty. - Dress for Volunteer Duties
Dress comfortably but casually and wear comfortable shoes. Tennis shoes are ok. - Badges
Badges can be picked up at the Richmond County Extension office, 602 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901, Thursday, 2/24, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. or Friday, 2/25, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. - Parking
Your badge is your ticket to parking. You will need to show this to Security. Parking will be to the rear of the James Brown Arena (same area as exhibitors) and is a first come basis. - Building Entry
You will enter the rear of the arena through the loading ramp. Our booth is #616 which is beside the Celebrity Stage. - Food/Drink
There are concessions throughout the building for your food and drink needs but feel free to bring something to snack on. We will provide bottled water.

Basic Horticulture 2011-2012
The Augusta Council of Garden Clubs, Inc. is offering seven Basic Horticulture Workshops led by Master Gardeners and garden experts. Workshops will be held on Saturdays one to three months apart beginning September 10, 2011. Morning sessions will be at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 3185 Wheeler Rd., Augusta, GA and afternoon sessions will include private garden or green house tours. Workshops are open to any interested person, and preregistration deadlines are 10 days prior to the workshop. Maximum registration for each workshop is 35 participants. Deadline for registration is 10 days prior to each session. Cost is $25 per session which includes lunch and snacks.

Volunteer Opportunities
- Augusta Farmers Market - Establishing a community garden containing herbs, vegetables, annuals and periennals. Please contact Valerie Martin (706) 821-2349 for details.
- East Central Regional Hospital - Assistance is needed in updating, upgrading and improving existing garden plots, establishing new gardens (e.g. shade garden, vegetable garden, and a flower bed). For more information please contact Martha Ness, Clinical Services Coordinator, (706) 790-2093 or (706) 834-7592.
- Harrisburg Garden - 708 Bohler Avenue (corner of Fenwick) could use help with general garden maintenance and ideas for increasing neighborhood involvement. Contact Denice Traina (706) 364-7861 or (706) 951-2413.
- Joseph M. Still Burn Center - 3651 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30909 (706) 651-6661. The Southeastern Firefighters' Burn Foundation needs assistance in tending their garden.
- Meadow Garden - 1320 Independence Dr., Augusta, GA 30901-1038, (706) 724-4174. Help is needed in pulling weeds and vines from the hydrangea bed, as well as, other weeding. Contact Jean Lender Meadow Gardens Horticulture Chairman.
- The Central Park Garden - 1180 Merry St., needs helpers to install an irrigation system that was donated to the garden. Ideas for creating an aesthetically pleasing drainage control utilizing part of the park would be welcomed. Gardeners can pay $20/year for a plot dedicated for their use or garden for free at one of the community plots.
- The New Bethlehem Community Garden - Corner of Conklin Ave. and Clay Street, is looking for someone with a tiller who can help till additional vegetable beds. They have made raised beds from old pallets and could use assistance framing new beds. Contact Shirley Cristy, volunteer garden coordinator, (706) 722-0086.
- The Woodrow Wilson House - 419 7th St., Augusta, GA 30901. Volunteers are needed to prune and weed Section 5 on the grounds of the Woodrow Wilson House. Please call (706) 722-9828 for additional information.
