Spalding County Extension Office:
4-H Youth Development
Youth in Governance

Initiative

A Priority of the National 4-H Leadership Trust

The Guiding Vision:  Youth are fully engaged participants and decision-makers in the programs, organizations, and communities of 4-H and beyond.

Text Box: Imagine… What would our communities—and nation—look like if young people were fully engaged as partners in the decisions that affect them and in the development of solutions to the issues facing their communities? What is Youth in Governance?

Youth in governance is the authentic and meaningful engagement of young people in programs, organizations, and communities, where they have or share voice, influence, and decision-making authority.

During Youth In Governance each day we visit different government and public facilities such as the local fire department, prison, the hospital and morgue, local electric provider and much more. In addition to the meals at local restaurants such as Madame's or Angelo's.
