Bobby Solomon, FVSU ANR Agent
Bobby Solomon is the Agriculture and Natural Resourse Agent in the Talbot County Cooperative Extension Office in Talbotton. Mr. Solomon has twenty one years experience working in agriculture and natural resources. He worked for the Department of Agriculture for seventeen years as a County Executive Director administrating farm programs and managing office staff. He was raised on a large row crop and livestock operation in Sylvania, GA in Screven County. They grew corn, cotton, soybeans, peanuts, forages, vegetables and watermelons. Talbot County Eligible for Grazing Loss in Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP)
Talbot County livestock producers have been determined eligible for LFP grazing benefits according to USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA). The program provides compensation to eligible livestock producers that have suffered grazing loss on land that in native or improved pastureland with permanent vegetative cover or is specifically for grazing due to drought conditions during the grazing period. The county eligibility is based on the drought level as shown on the U.S. Drought Monitor for Georgia. Eligible livestock types under this program include alpacas, beef cattle, deer, elk, emuls, equine, goats, llamas, poultry, reindeer, sheep or swine that have been grazing. Testing Services
It's that time of year again to get your gardens ready to plant. Make sure you fertilize only for what your soil needs. Bring a sample of your soil by our office for testing. We will send it to the UGA lab for testing. Usually we receive the results back with in ten days.
- Soil Test (basic test) $9.00

- Water Test (basic test) $18.00
- More extensive testing available. Call for pricing.
- Samples must be packaged correctly to avoid contamination.

Emergency Conservation Program Assistance
USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) provides emergency funding and technical assistance for farmers and ranchers to rehabilitate farmland damaged by natural disasters. The program practices include:
- Removing Debris
- Restore Fences and Conservation Structures
- Provide water for Livestock in Drought Situation
On site inspection of the damage must be completed by FSA personnel before cost share payments are authorized and the damage must be too costly to repair with out federal assistance. Natural disasters generally happen suddenly, leaving us with little time to prepare.
