National 4-H Week 2011 - I am Georgia 4-H
Meet Yesterday's 4-H Members and Today's Leaders
Marcel "Pianoman" McManus
4-H has been a light in the night for me. It has guided me down a pathway that has not only enhanced my piano-playing capabilities, but has also allowed me to share my God-given gift with others. For that, I am forever grateful. My name is Marcel McManus and I am Georgia 4-H.
Dr. Heather Sheppard Tillamn, DVM
From Cloverleaf to Collegiate 4-H, I was able to develop my communication and leadership skills which allowed me to be successful in my pursuit of a degree in veterinary medicine. 4-H was a part of my personal growth and development which provided many opportunities for travel, to have fun, as well as, make wonderful memories and life-long friendships. I am Dr. Heather Sheppard Tillman, DVM and member of the UGA Veterinary Class of 2008. I am Georgia 4-H.
Dr. Barry Dotson

4-H provided me hands-on opportunities to participate in different educational activities. From learning about different projects and presenting that information to groups to traveling to Washington, DC, it provided many different leadership activities for me. However, I think at the most basic level, 4-H is really about building character and better citizens for our community and our country. There is no way that I could estimate the value of the contributions that 4-H has made in my life. I am Dr. Barry Dotson, Vice President for Student Affairs at Southeastern Technical College and I am Georgia 4-H.
Elizabeth Harvill

Cool, clean, crisp waters is where you will find me in the Summer wearing 100% cotton," I remember practicing this introduction a thousand times as a 10 year old girl. I remember the fear and trepidation that came with public speaking. After a number of speaking engagements, through 4-H, I gradually became more and more comfortable. In the years that would follow, this confidence led me to stages alongside of the Governor, to state board meetings, to civic leadership, etc. 4-H served me well and built for me an opportunity to grow and develop a skill set that would ultimately provide stability for my family. My name is Elizabeth Harvill, MRMC Director of Marketing and Community Relations and I am Georgia 4-H.

Dr. Jennifer Irvin

Toombs County 4-H instills confidence. While I distinctly remember the terror I felt as a 5th grade student standing in front of a group to discuss incandescent lights at DPA, that anxiety faded over the years as I participated in activities centered aroundself-reliance and'Making the Best Better'. Fromattendingcamps tolearning to judge poultry, the opportunities for growth available for the youth in our area are limitless. I give credit to Toombs County 4-H for the possibilities I see within myself and the confidence I have in pursuing all of my goals. I am Dr. Jennifer Irvin, English Department Head, Toombs County High School and I am Georgia 4-H.

Ginger B. Morris

I loved 4-H as a kid! It taught me to have a good work ethic, to set goals for myself and to have pride in my community and country. The amazing thing is that all these things are still a part of the core of 4-H and the program is still turning out amazing kids! I am Ginger B. Morris, Sally Meadows Elementary Principal and I am Georgia 4-H.
