Troup County 4-H Youth Development:
Volunteers
Volunteers
Volunteers are an important part of 4-H. We strive to offer a wide variety of programs that appeal to the varying interests of youth. This goal is unattainable without the support of our 4-H volunteers.
Volunteers have an opportunity to become members of the Georgia 4-H Volunteer Leader Association and attend the Southern Region Leader Forum held at Rock Eagle. Volunteers can find resources at the National 4-H Volunteer website and the Georgia 4-H Volunteer website.
Overnight Chaperone Training
Any volunteer that will chaperoning 4-H'ers on an overnight trip must complete Overnight Chaperone Training. Please contact the Extension Office for more information about receiving this training.
New Volunteers
As of August 1, 2008, it is UGA policy that all adults working with youth undergo a background check.
Any adult interested in volunteering with 4-H or establishing a special interest club must first complete the volunteer screening process, which includes a background check. There are 4 steps to this process:
1. To begin this process please complete the Volunteer Leader Application and return it to Troup County 4-H at 900 Dallis St, Suite D, LaGrange, GA 30240. Be sure to include two references and their addresses.
2. References will be asked to complete a reference form, which will be reviewed by Extension staff.
4. If the applicant is approved by UGA they will participate in an orientation process, review the Adult Behavior guidelines, and sign the Volunteer Leader Agreement form.
