Troup County Extension Office is a major resource of educational materials, as well as offering the expertise of trained professionals to serve local citizens. By expanding the resources of the University of Georgia, lab analyses such as soil and water tests are offered through the Troup County Extension Office. Research-based,unbiased educational information in the areas of horticulture-home lawns, home gardens/forestry, livestock, pesticide safety, nutrition and food safety, family development, food preservation, resource management, and leadership development are a major part of the curriculum offered to adults, as well as Troup County youth through the 4-H Club Program.
The 4-H program is coordinated in cooperation with the county school system. It is a program in which adult and youth, grow and work together to promote a positive change.

    • GA Extended Water Test (required for water treatment design) $53
      (W1-Basic, W-3 Anions, W11-Soluble Salts, & W18-Alkalinity) Need 1 pint
    • Real Estate Test (required for new homes with existing well) - $63.00 (Lead, Nitrate-N, Nitrite-N, Ammonium Nitrogen) Need 1 quart

4-H Events and Information

The 4-H Horse Club meets the second Monday of each month.

4-H County Council is made up of 6th - 12th grade 4-Hers.

If you like helping with community service, then contact the 4-H office on collecting pop tabs. These tabs are used to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for parents and children who are receiving care at a nearby hospital.

Family and Consumer Science Events

Powerful Tolls for Caregivers an educational program for family caregivers. A six-week series for 90 minutes will begin Thursday, September 16 through October 22, 2010, time 6:00 - 7:30pm. Cost is $25 (Scholarships available).

Living WellIn Georgia each year, 5,235 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, the most common cancer among women. Sadly, 1,062 Georgia women die due to cancer each year. A high proportion of these deaths occur among low-income or minority women.
