What is JOAD Archery?

4-H Archery/JOAD is a Georgia 4-H Project S.A.F.E sport. Project S.A.F.E. stands for Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education. JOAD stands for Junior Olympic Archery Development.

What will JOAD Archery participants learn?

During meeting times participants will learn the fundamentals of archery and work on the skills needed to do well in the shooting sport. Participants will also learn the importance of safety in the shooting sport. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in the State Archery Match in the Spring.

Who can participate?

Any youth, ages 8-18, may join.

Where does the Washington County 4-H JOAD Archery Team meet?

The Washington County 4-H JOAD Archery Team meets twice a month – every other Sunday afternoon between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Washington County Agricultural Center on Grady Mertz Road in Tennille, Georgia.

How much does it cost?

There is no charge for membership. Optional activities may have a nominal charge.

What about parents?

Parents are an important part of 4-H Archery/JOAD activities and are always welcome. We also strongly encourage parents to consider becoming a 4-H Volunteer.

Washington County 4-H JOAD Archery 3-D Range

Join the Washington County 4-H JOAD Archery Team at their new 20 Target 3-D Archery Range as they host a monthly 3-D Range Tournaments. Check back soon for an updated schedule.

2011-2012 Practice Schedule

The Washington County 4-H JOAD Archery Team is gearing up for another successful archery year. Practice is every other Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Agricultural Center in Tennille.

Coach Bill Black has planned an awesome year for our 4-H JOAD Archery Team. If you are interested in archery come and join us. You do not need your own equipment. Equipment is provided. If you have any questions please call the Washington County 4-H Office at (478) 552-2011.

Volunteer Information

Information for the 2011-2012 trainings for S.A.F.E. Coaches have been posted online at: www.georgia4h.org/safe/coaches.htm Online registration for each event will open 4-5 weeks before each training session. Adult leaders interested in attending the training must register through the county Extension office. The dates for this year’s events are:
