Cloverleaf 4-H Monthly Contests
| September | “I Am Georgia 4-H ” Poster Contest Participants will develop posters that creatively promotes Georgia 4-H Week (October 2-7, 2011). All posters must relate to 4-H in some way. Posters must be the original work of one 4-H’er. Team entries will not be accepted. Posters should be suitable for display at the Washington County Agricultural & Youth Fair. All entries must be received no later than October 2, 2011. The top three posters will be displayed at the Washington County Agricultural & Youth Fair October 4-8, 2011. Prizes will be awarded as follows: First Place $25.00, Second Place $15.00, and Third Place $10.00 4-H Foundation Holiday Card Contest Design a December holiday card for the Georgia 4-H Foundation, which will be sent to 4-H supporters at the end of the year. Top prize is $50! All entries must be the student's original drawing on an 8.5 x 5.5 inch (or 5.5 x 8.5 inch) sheet of white, unlined paper. All entries should somehow include 4-H in the theme for the message or design. Also, please try to use a universal "holiday" theme. All entries must be colorful, so they can be reproduced on the holiday card if selected as the grand prize winner. Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form filled out by the 4-H'er and signed by the county 4-H agent. See your teacher for an entry form. Entries must be turned in no later than October 2, 2011. |
| October | 4-H Project Essay Contest Write a one-page essay on any topic from the provided Project Achievement list and return to your teacher. These will be picked up at your November 4-H Club meeting. Essays will be judged and prizes will be awarded. This is phase one out of three phases to prepare for County & District Project Achievement. 4-H Peanutrition Contest Come up with a recipe for your favorite peanut butter sandwich. The recipe should list ingredients yielding 1 sandwich, as well as directions for making the sandwich. Recipes will be judged on taste, appeal, and appropriateness for each category. Categories are: Most Nutritious, Most Unusual, Most Ingredients and Messiest. Any recipe with inedible items will be disqualified. |
| November | 4-H Project Poster Contest Create a poster to accompany the 4-H Project essay you wrote and turned in last month. If you did not turn in an essay last month, it’s not too late to complete one now. Just write a 1 page essay on any topic from the Project Achievement list and turn your essay in with your poster to your teacher. These will be picked up on December 5th. Posters and Essays will be judged and prizes will be awarded. |
| January | Milkmake Contest Come up with a recipe for your favorite milk drink. Any recipe with inedible items will be disqualified. Write your recipe by listing ingredients and amounts to be used, the number of servings it makes, then the steps in making the drink. An index card or a blank sheet of paper can be used. Don't forget to include your name, school, grade and your 4-H Club's name. Turn in your recipe at your February 4-H Meeting. Recipes will be judged on nutrition, appeal, creativity, flavor and technique and preparation. The top three recipes will receive a T-shirt. The top club will receive a tour of a local Dairy Farm and an ice cream treat! Everyone needs to enter so your club can win! |
| February | “What 4-H Means to Me” Essay Contest We want to know what 4-H means to you. Simply write a 1 page essay that tells what 4-H means to you. Make sure you write you name and club name on your essay. And don’t forget to turn your essay in at your March 4-H Club Meeting. |
| March | 4-H Photography Contest Submit photos that you have taken during the past year. Photos must not be edited, altered or digitally enhanced. All photos must be submitted mounted on 8”x 10” cardboard/cardstock, complete with entry form. Photos must have a title. You must also submit a picture CD with your photo. There are 3 categories you may submit photos for: General, Focus on 4-H and Focus on Agriculture. Items must be turned in no later than April 2, 2012. |

Cloverleaf 4-H In School Community Service
| September | School Supply Drive Collect school supplies for local primary schools - Hand Sanitizer, Fiskars scissors, Boxes of Crayola Crayons, Boxes of Crayola Markers, #2 pencils, Zip-Lock bags (any size), Spiral Notebooks (wide rule only), Boxes of Kleenex, Pencil top erasers, Elmer’s Glue, Bookbag, Plastic pencil boxes, Boxes of Band-Aids, Writing Paper, Wide rule notebook paper, and D’Nelian Tablet Paper (wide lines) These items are due no later than your October 4-H Club Meeting. |
| October | Can Food Drive Can Food Drive for local Food Banks. Bring in non-perishable boxed or canned food items to be donated to our local Food Banks. Items must be brought in no later than your November 4-H Club Meeting. |
| November | Toy Drive & Christmas Cards for Elderly 1. Donate NEW toys for Toys for Tots - Toys must be NEW and in original wrapping. 2. Make Christmas Cards for local Nursing Home Residents - Cards will be distributed to residents of local Nursing Homes. These items must be turned in no later than December 5, 2011. |
| January | Valentine Cards for Elderly Make Valentines for local Nursing Home Residents. Make sure you include Washington County 4-H and your name on your cards. You will receive 50 points per card that is turned in towards Club of the Month/Year. Cards are due no later than February 10th. |
| February | Animal Shelter Supply Drive Bring in Cat/Dog supplies for local Animal Shelter. Items needed include: Cat/Dog Food, Cat/Dog Toys, Cat Litter, Newspapers, Cleaning supplies. All items are due at your March 4-H Club Meeting. |
| March | Coins for Cancer Help support our local Relay for Life by collecting coins to help find a cure for cancer! |
Your Community Service Project for the year will be collecting can pop-tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Your club will earn 50 points towards Club of the Month/Club of the Year for every gallon sized zip lock bag full of can tabs turned in.

Bring your aluminum can pop tabs to the Washington County 4-H Office for a great cause!
