Testing Services

ALL Samples (soil, water, feed, litter, plant) must be paid for at time of submission.

Soil Samples: $7.50 per sample if you bring in 1 to 3 samples at one time. If you bring in more than 3 samples at one time the price is $6.00 per sample plus postage. Samples will be weighed when you bring them in. Postage will be checked according to weight and charged accordingly.

Instructions on how to take a good soil sample are on the back of our soil bags. You may come by the Washington County Extension Office located at 158 West Haynes Street and pick up all the soil sample bags you need at no additional cost.

Basic Water Samples: $15.00 each plus postage of $4.95 per sample.

This sample will give you the mineral content of the water only. We have water bottles to take these samples in and there is no additional cost for the bottle. Drop by our office located at 158 West Haynes Street and we will be glad to provide one for you along with specific instructions on how to take a good water sample.

Water Sample to test for Lead: $30.00 each plus postage of $4.95 per sample.

Water Sample for Restaurants on well water (required by EPD): $110.00 plus overnight shipping of $18.10. 

Chicken Litter Samples are free but you must pay for postage which is determined by the total weight. Samples must be submitted in a Quart ZipLock bag (please double bag these samples) with your name, county, and sample number on each ZipLock bag.

Feed and Forage Samples (hay, silage) basic test: $32.00 per sample. Call our office at (478) 552-2011 for instructions on how to take a good sample.

If you are not in a hurry for the results for your hay,  samples can be sent to state lab for free with the exception of the cost of postage. However, please understand it will take approximately 6 weeks to get your test results back.

Plant Analysis - basic test: $20.00 per sample plus postage. Call our office at (478) 552-2011 for specific instructions on taking a sample.
