General 4-H Information
What is 4-H?: The Georgia 4-H program is part of the educational outreach of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. 4-H is the largest youth organization in the world. Today 4-H is urban and suburban as well as rural. We teach life skills such as public speaking. We are proud of our beginnings as corn and tomato clubs, but 4-H has evolved over the years to teach computers, recycling, photography, dog care, teamwork and many other topics.
Who's eligible?: Any youth aged 9 through 19 may join 4-H.
Where do they meet?: 4-H'ers have activities they are involved in but regular meetings are as follows:
- 5th graders meet once a month during school hours in their classroom.
- 6-8th graders meet once a month during school hours at school.
- 9-12th graders meet once a month either at school or the 4-H Office.
How much does it cost?: There are no dues to participate in 4-H in the school. However, special project clubs and outside activities may have a small charge. There are no uniforms for 4-H'ers. 4-H'ers may pick and choose what they participate in. They are not expected to do it all!
Special Fund-Raisers:
Vidalia Onion Sales
Vidalia onions are sold during the month of April. They are ready for delivery the second week in May and they may also be picked up at the Webster County 4-H Office.
4-H Fall Carnival will be October 29
The annual fall carnival is held around October each year. There are activities for all ages from the smallest to the oldest. A costume contest is offered for the different age groups up to age 10. Games including treasure hunt, go fish, golf, bottle bowling, cake walks, and bingo for the older group, just to name a few. There are also door prizes and plenty of food, fun and fellowship.![]()
Community Projects
4-H members across the state help collect pop tabs to be sent to support a Ronald McDonald House in Georgia. Webster County 4-H members are encouraged to bring their pop tabs to the school where they are collected and brought to the 4-H Office.
General Info
The mission of Georgia 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. This mission is accomplished through "hands-on" learning experiences that focus on agricultural and environmental issues, agriculture awareness, leadership, communication skills, foods and nutrition, health, energy conservation, and citizenship.

4-H Livestock
If you are interested in lambs, goats or hogs, let us know we have shows year round for those who may be interested in showing.
