Major Initiatives of Departments

The AESL has continuing initiatives, in concert with other research and extension faculty throughout the college and elsewhere, to develop new testing procedures using state of the art technology. We also continue to develop new and improved test interpretations and recommendations based on test results. These new programs can be found by going to our website at http://aesl.ces.uga.edu/.

Frequently Asked Questions

Monthly Billing

•  Can I submit County Program (troubleshooting) samples with the new program?
Yes. Just notate which samples should be County Program on the Summary of Tests Requested page. There is a price limit for County Program samples submitted during each fiscal year. You can see your current County Program balance in Data Transfer.

•  I need a test that's not available through the online program. Will you bill me for this test?
No. You should send payment for any samples that are not submitted online.
A good rule of thumb: If you have to write any special instructions on the forms, don't use the online program, and send payment with the samples.

•  Is the turn-around for soil reports received from the online sample submissions the same?
Turn-around time will be the same. Routine samples are generally available for download by 3:30p the day after we receive them.

•  Will we need to submit a printout of the online submission form along with the box of soil samples we mail to the SPW lab?
Yes. Clicking "Print Forms" creates the forms we need. In the printer dialog box, change "Number of copies" to "2" so that you'll have a copy in-house.

•  Who do I contact if I have questions or problems with the program?
Send an e-mail message to: soiltest@uga.edu Or by phone: 706-542-5350 — Ask for Arnita or Rick.

Data Transfer:

  •   What is Data Transfer?
Data Transfer is the program that delivers reports from the Agricultural & Environmental Services Laboratories to the county offices over the Internet.
  • How do I change a crop code to get new recommendations?
To print reports using different crop codes, use your right arrow to scroll over to the Crp1 field. Click Edit , and then enter the desired crop codes in the columns Crp1 - Crp5 . Your reports will give recommendations using the new crop codes entered. You can also edit sample numbers as well as name and address this way.
  • Can I install Data Transfer to more than one machine in my office?
Yes.  You can install it from:
        ftp://aesl.ces.uga.edu/download.exe

Note:  Data Transfer will not run under Windows 98.
