Agricultural and Applied Economics



Agricultural and Applied Economics: John William Firor, Sr. Scholarship

Professor John William Firor's far-reaching work improved Georgia farming as he trained students to carry out his teachings. His leadership essentially developed the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Georgia.

Agricultural and Applied Economics: Roy Estes Proctor Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to honor Dr. Proctor's dedication to teaching and his contributions to agricultural economics by providing a scholarship to worthy undergraduates in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. Roy E. Proctor was the Head of the Agricultural Economics Department for the period 1951 -1956.

Agricultural and Applied Economics: Tate Brookins Memorial Endowment

he Tate Brookins Memorial Endowment established by his parents, Frank and Ann Brookins, provides young men and women in Agricultural and Applied Economics the opportunity to gain an education and to enrich their academic experiences at the University of Georgia. Tate, a 1994 Georgia graduate with a BSA in Agricultural Economics, lost his life in 1998, at the age of 27. Contributions to the Tate Brookins Memorial Endowment are invited.

Agricultural and Applied Economics: Thomas L. Frazier Scholarship

Tom Frazier first came to the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences as an undergraduate in 1932. After serving as a pilot in the Air Force during World War II, he returned and completed his Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics in 1950. Frazier joined the department in 1953 as a faculty member. Contributions to the Thomas L. Frazier Scholarship Fund are invited.

Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication



ALEC: Henry Gnann Memorial Scholarship

For CAES undergraduate students in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication. Applications are typically accepted online from December 1 to March 1.

ALEC: Lt. Col. Earl Cheek Agricultural Education Scholarship

Lt. Col. Earl Cheek taught Agriculture Education in Georgia for 37 years. In 1998 he funded an endowment to the Georgia FFA Alumni Association to provide scholarships for students during apprentice teaching. Agricultural Education majors who plan to teach agriculture education in Georgia are eligible to apply.

ALEC: Jim Frank Cobb Agricultural Education Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to support an aspiring agricultural education teacher. All applicants must major in agricultural education and be full-time juniors or seniors enrolled in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication at UGA CAES. Deadline is April 5 each year.

ALEC: Roland Harris Agricultural Mechanics Scholarship

For CAES undergraduate students in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication. Applications are typically accepted online from December 1 to March 1.

Animal and Dairy Science



Animal and Dairy Science: Benjamin Forbes Fund

Recipient has traditionally been the Outstanding Senior in Dairy Science and/or President of the Dairy Science Club. Fund agreement requires the student must be a DS major and exhibit leadership skills.

Animal and Dairy Science: Cynthia Curtis Scholarship

Recipient must be a female with a GPA of at least 3.5 who has demonstrated leadership skills and an interest in the animal agriculture industry especially in the beef cattle industry.

Animal and Dairy Science: Dan and Nemah Daniel Scholarship Fund

Recipient must have completed at least one semester at UGA or ABAC and have been very active in junior livestock programs.

Animal and Dairy Science: Emory Lynn Fund

Recipient must have a declared interest in swine production.

Animal and Dairy Science: Georgia Dairy Memorial Fund

Two named scholarships are awarded: The Thomas H. Resseau and Louis J. Boyd, to outstanding dairy students.

Animal and Dairy Science: H.D. Thames Scholarship

Scholarship is awarded to a student with a demonstrated interest and involvement in dairy science.

Animal and Dairy Science: Herbert Henderson Trust

This fund honors Professor Herbert Henderson for recruiting dairy students.

Animal and Dairy Science: Mark A. Lea Scholarship

In honor of Mark Lea, a former student killed tragically in an automobile accident two weeks before graduation. Selection should be based on a declared interest in beef or swine production. Preference should be given to an entering freshman or transferee from a two-year institution.

Animal and Dairy Science: Nesbitt-Flatt Scholarship

Award should be given to an undergraduate student (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior) pursuing a course of study in the College. Selections shall be on the basis of merit, service, involvement in extracurricular activities such as student governance and leadership. Preference will be given to students studying animal or human nutrition, but other majors related to the food industry will be acceptable.

Animal and Dairy Science: Robert Lowery Scholarship

Recipient must have a strong background in 4-H and/or livestock projects and demonstrated potential to be a leader and citizen in the livestock industry with a minimum GPA of 2.50 required.

Animal and Dairy Science: S.E. Milk Dairy Check-off Scholarship

Scholarship is awarded to a dairy science student. Preference is given to students with dairy production backgrounds.

Animal and Dairy Science: Walter F. Forbes Fund

Recipient has traditionally been the Outstanding Senior in Animal Science. Fund agreement requires the student must be an animal science major and leadership and club activities weighed heavily.

Animal and Diary Science: Willcox Livestock Judging Scholarship

Award is given to an outstanding member of the UGA Livestock Judging Team. Selection is by the livestock judging team coach in conjunction with the ADS Scholarship Committee.

Crop and Soil Sciences



Crop and Soil Sciences: Attie A. Fleming Scholarship

For undergraduate students majoring in the field of crop/plant sciences who meets academic and financial need requirements. $1,000 scholarship divided between fall and spring semesters.

Crop and Soil Sciences: Crop and Soil Sciences International Scholarship

For any crop and soil sciences major participating in a university related study abroad program who meets academic merit and financial need criteria.

Crop and Soil Sciences: Frederick B. And Marjorie W. Smith Scholarship in Soil Science

For any student majoring in an area related to soil science. $1,000 divided between fall and spring semesters.

Crop and Soil Sciences: Golf Course Builders Association of America Scholarship

For junior or senior CAES or forestry student interested in a career in golf course construction, design and/or related products who meets academic merit criteria and has a minimum GPA of 3.0. $1,000 divided between fall and spring semesters.

Crop and Soil Sciences: J. Frank McGill "Up with Peanuts" Scholarship

For rising junior or senior who meets academic merit requirements, with priority given to individuals involved in the peanut industry. $2,000 divided between fall and spring semesters.

Crop and Soil Sciences: Soil Testing and Plant Analysis Scholarship

For any junior or senior in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences. $1,000 divided between fall and spring semesters. To apply: Complete and submit Crop and Soil Sciences departmental scholarship application and essay of 1,000 words or less describing the range of testing services and educational resources offered through the AESL (Agricultural and Environmental Services Lab)

Food Science and Technology: American Association of Candy Technologists Scholarship

One or more scholarship(s) awarded to food science students with a demonstrated interest in confectionery science.

Food Science and Technology: Dorris A. Lillard Scholarship

One or more scholarship(s) awarded to undergraduate food science students based on academic achievement and leadership.

Food Science and Technology: Joe W. Andrews Scholarship

Scholarship awarded to a food science student of good academic standing with an expressed interest in dairy food science.

Food Science and Technology: John C. Ayres Scholarship

One or more scholarship(s) awarded to food science students based on academic achievement, college extra-curricular activities and a demonstrated desire to pursue a career in food science.

Food Science and Technology: Maurice K. Horowitz Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship awarded to an undergraduate food science student based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.

Food Science and Technology: Dr. Morrison and Genevieve Loewenstein Scholarship

Scholarship is awarded to a graduate or undergraduate food science student of good academic standing with an expressed interest in the field of dairy food science.

Food Science and Technology: Tedford/Tellico Inc. Agriculture Scholarship

One or more scholarship(s) awarded to food science students based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Recipient must demonstrate exceptional skill in written and oral communication.

Food Science and Technology: Virginia Dare Scholarship

Scholarship awarded to undergraduate food science student based on academic achievement, leadership, professional potential and interest in flavor technology.

Horticulture



Horticulture: Albert F. Dirr Scholarship

$1,000. Students in the department who apply for the general College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences scholarships will be considered for this scholarship. Recipient chosen by faculty committee based on scholarship, need and extracurricular activities.

Horticulture: Bartlett Tree Foundation Grant-in-Aid

Undergraduate majors in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or Forestry who have a genuine interest in a career in Arboriculture. Evidence of interest may consist of courses, internships, work experience, or special projects in these fields. Admitted freshmen to rising seniors might be considered.

Horticulture: Grady C. Archer Memorial Scholarship Fund

$1,000. Students in the department who apply for the general College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences scholarships will be considered for this scholarship. Recipient chosen by faculty committee based on scholarship, and extracurricular activities.

Horticulture: Horticulture Club Scholarships

Six scholarships offered by the Horticulture Club: $1,000, two $500, and four $250. Limited to members of the Horticulture Club. Based on service to the Horticulture Club. Recipients selected by the graduating students of the Horticulture Club.

Horticulture: Velma Watts Scholarship

$1,000 scholarship for students in the Department of Horticulture who apply for the general College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences scholarships will be considered for this scholarship. Recipient chosen by faculty committee based on scholarship and extracurricular activities.

Poultry Science



Poultry Science: Departmental Scholarship

Incoming freshmen and transfers must be enrolled in POUL 2020, POUL 1010, or other avian-related courses throughout the year as well unless otherwise noted by the Poultry Science/Avian Biology Academic Advisor. Please complete this form and email to Jessica Fife (jfife@uga.edu) by 5 p.m. on February 1, 2019. Late applications will not be considered.

Poultry Science: Abit & Henry Massey Scholarship

$500-$1500 awarded annually to a poultry science or avian biology student who meets the selection criteria.

Poultry Science: Caswell Scholarship

$500-$1000 awarded annually to a poultry science or avian biology student with a 3.7-plus GPA who meets the selection criteria.

Poultry Science: Centurion Poultry Student Development Scholarship

$500-$2000 awarded annually to a poultry science or avian biology major who meets the selection criteria.

Poultry Science: Cummickel Scholarship

$500-$1500 awarded annually to a poultry science or avian biology student who meets the selection criteria.

Poultry Science: Harrison Poultry Science Scholarship

Established in 1991 by a $25,000 donation from Mr. Harold Harrison of Harrison Poultry Inc. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage enrollment in poultry science and to provide financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate students majoring in poultry science.

Poultry Science: Hatfield Student Enhancement Scholarship

Established in 2007, this scholarship awards $500-$1000 annually to a poultry science or avian biology major who meets the selection criteria.

Poultry Science: Hubbard Farms Charitable Foundation

Established in 1974 by Hubbard Farms to recognize outstanding achievement of a poultry science major at the University of Georgia.

Poultry Science: Mr. & Mrs. J. B. Gay Memorial Fund

Established in 1979 as a memorial fund to honor Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gay. Mr. Gay was an active member of the Georgia egg industry and United Egg Producers initiated the scholarship fund in view of Mr. Gay's contributions to the Georgia egg industry. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide assistance for students in poultry science based on criteria listed above. Preference is given to Georgia residents.

Poultry Science: Roy and Maye Durr Scholarship

Established in 1977 by the Georgia Egg Association and the Georgia Poultry Federation in honor of Ray Durr and his wife Maye Durr in recognition of his leadership in the development of the poultry and egg industry in Georgia and nationally.

Poultry Science: Shutze Scholarship Fund

Established by Dr. Stan Savage, member of poultry Extension faculty, to encourage students to major in poultry science and prepare for a career in the poultry industry. Awarded to junior poultry science students.

Poultry Science: Thomas A. Arrendale, Jr. Student Enhancement Scholarship

Established in 2007, this scholarship awards $500-$1000 annually to a poultry science or avian biology student who meets the selection criteria.

Poultry Science: Till M. Huston Scholarship

Established in 1980 to honor Dr. Till M. Huston's retirement from the University of Georgia Department of Poultry Science after more than 30 years of service to UGA. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize a junior or senior poultry student that has a genuine interest in the poultry industry and who has maintained a good GPA.

Poultry Science: William Lee Arrendale Student Enhancement Scholarship

Established in 2007, this scholarship awards $500-$1000 annually to a poultry science or avian biology student who meets the selection criteria.

Poultry Science: Winston May Scholarship

Established in 2004, this scholarship awards $500-$1000 annually to a poultry science or avian biology student who meets the selection criteria.
