Templates Overview
What are Templates?
Templates are master design files for the CAES Web site that do the following:
- Support the goals of the university and the college.
- Meet the University of Georgia minimum guidelines for university Web sites.
- Increase the reputation of CAES by showing the public a unified, professional front.
- Ensure consistent navigation scheme, look-and-feel and usability solution for all college pages.
- Meet accessibility standards for users of varying levels of experience, competence, backgrounds and abilities.
- Connect to college and university resources.
- Increase searching capabilities with built-in access to college databases.
- Make major site-wide changes a possibility.
- Adapt to accommodate different media delivery devices.

Kinds of CAES Web Templates
The CAES Web site is built from three main templates: Basic CAES, Extension, and Intranet. Each of these templates has specific qualities and features that can be turned on and off based on user needs and content requirements.
Basic CAES
(basic.dwt)
- Red, black, white, and gray
- Local navigation links back to CAES Home
- Basic CAES specific footer information
- Used for: external CAES pages, college-specific areas, campuses departments, events, news, etc.
- Options for: local navigation display, application menus, infoportals, and home images.
Extension
(extension.dwt)
- Red, black, white, and gray
- Local navigation links back to CAES Home
- Basic CAES + Extension specific footer information.
- Used for: external UGA Extension pages, county offices, fact sheets, etc.
- Options for: 4-H logo and home images.
Internal
(intranet.dwt)
- Gray and red, "Faculty & Staff Intranet" image in upper right corner
- Local navigation links back to CAES Home and Intranet
- Basic CAES specific footer information
- Used for: internal CAES and Extension pages, support units, application inputs, other pages that solely support CAES/Extension employees.
- Options for: local navigation display, application menus, and home images.
