Web Team: Contribute Resource Guide

Trainings and Workshops

The CAES Web Team is offering training opportunities for Web authors using the CAES template.

Basic Course

Creating Web Sites Using CAES Templates and Adobe Contribute — This 4 hour class is specifically geared toward equipping the novice Web author with the knowledge and tools needed to publish content to the Web using templates. Through a series of hands-on activities, participants will learn how to create and publish their own Web sites. Relevant laws, policies and best practices will also be discussed.

Cost associated is $15 per person for each session. The bill will be sent to your district office or appropriate departmental office after the training.

Basic Course Description

The "Creating Web Sites Using CAES Templates and Adobe Contribute," class teaches county extension staff how to edit several pages of a fictitious county extension Web site using Adobe Contribute, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Science's recommended and supported content management software. Contribute's word processor-like interface is meant to help people with little-to-no Web publishing experience create and update their own county Web sites. The workshop covers basic principles of Web page production and maintenance, including best practices and connection procedures, as well as the fundamentals of using Contribute. Participants will learn to use the Contribute browser, to create a connection to a Web site, and to use the Contribute editor to create new and update existing Web pages.

Advanced Workshop

Advanced Workshop for CAES Web Sites Using Adobe Contribute — This four hour workshop is specifically geared toward those who are already trained in Contribute and desire guidance and assistance with building their Websites in a group setting. Through a series of hands-on activities, participants will add content to their Web Site pages and publish their own Websites.

Cost associated is $15 per person for each session. The bill will be sent to your district office or appropriate departmental office after the training.

Advanced Workshop Description

The "Advanced Workshop for CAES Web Sites Using Adobe Contribute" workshop will provide individualized assistance to Contribute users who already have a "live" Web site, as well as to those who need more guidance in order to complete and publish their Web site. Participants should come to this training prepared to work on their actual Web site. It is imperative that participants bring photos, text and any other content they want to include on their Web pages. This advanced session will offer one-on-one assistance, discussion forum with trainers, and a more advanced look at the principles of Web page production and maintenance.

GoTo Meeting Training Session

Adobe Contribute Training using GoToMeeting

The CAES Web Support is offering Adobe Contribute on-line training using g2mlogo to help you get your Web site live. GoToMeeting is a Web conferencing tool that allows you to meet online with a member of the Web Team using only an internet browser.

This is a scheduled 1 to 2 hour training session specifically geared toward the individual who has attended the Basic and/or Advanced Contribute training sessions and desires guidance and assistance with building their Web site. If you are interested in participating in an on-line training session, please send the following information to contrib@uga.edu:

  • name, title, and program area
  • county/district or department
  • email address
  • telephone number
  • provide a date/time you’d would be available

Tools required:

  • Adobe Contribute CS3 version 4.1*
  • Contribute access with an assigned userid
  • Internet Browser software (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox)

There is no cost associated with the session.
