Web Team: Contribute Resource Guide
Undo and Rollbacks
Some mistakes cannot be solved with backspace or delete buttons. In those instances, Contribute allows two options: rollbacks and undo. Rollbacks allow you to access previous published versions of your page up to three times. The undo command erases your last command and reinstates the page as it existed before that command was executed.
Rollbacks
Contribute will save a copy of a page when you click the publish button. You can access the most recent three (published) copies of a page by using the Rollback button.
Follow the steps below to use the Rollback feature:
- If you are currently browsing the page you want to roll back, make sure you are not in edit mode
- Click File, then select Actions, then choose Roll Back to Previous Version
- A window will appear with a list of previous published pages and a preview area below that list. Select the version you wish to roll back to
- Click the Roll Back button
- Contribute should now revert to the page you selected
Note:
Undo
For a quicker solution to various editing errors, the undo feature can restore your previous work. Undo also allows you to backtrack farther than rolling back will allow.
To use the Undo command, follow the steps below:
- To erase your last input, simply hold Control and press Z
- Your page should now appear as it existed before your last input
- You can repeat the undo function until you are satisfied
Redo
Occasinally you may wish to undo your undo command. If you do go to far with undo or wish to erase your undo, you can use the Redo command. Simply hold Control and press Y. Your page should appear as it did before you executed the undo command.
