Web Hosting Request Procedure
Hosting Services Request: Login
The College Web Team is committed to providing its clientele with the best possible Web site hosting services possible within our resources. The following procedure should be adhered to when requests for hosting services are submitted for CAES Web sites.
- The client office requesting
Web Hosting Services should
review the official CAES
Web Publishing Policy and the official CAES
Web Style Guide prior
to actually making the request.
- The client office should
complete and submit a Hosting
Services Request. Login using your last name in the "Hosting Services Request: Login" space above.
- The Web team coordinators will automatically
receive notification of the request, review it
and may seek verification of certain information, if
necessary.
Requests that meet the following criteria will be accepted:- The person submitting request is a CAES faculty or staff member.
- The hosted Web site will relate directly to CAES activities and programs, adhere to the college's mission, and will be solely non-profit in nature.
- The hosted Web site will comply with standards set forth in the official CAES Web Publishing Policy and the official CAES Web Style Guide.
Requests for hosting sites for non-profit professional organizations relevant to CAES activities, mission, and/or goals will be given due consideration if the client meets the following additional criteria: - The person submitting request is a member of the organization requesting hosting services.
- The person submitting request is empowered by that
organization to request such services.
- Accepted requests will then be electronically forwarded to a CAES OIT server administrator for action, along with suggestion as to the physical location of the site on the CAES server. The server administrator will set up the site's home directory and will create the File Transfer Protocol accounts requested in the Web Hosting Services Request Form.
- Once the server administrator has set up and documented the site's home directory and its associated FTP accounts, the client office will be notified by e-mail that hosting services have been set up. This e-mail will contain information needed to connect to the server, publish to the site via an FTP client, and access the published site via the World Wide Web.
If a request is rejected, the client will
be notified by e-mail with an explanation for the denial.
The client is free to contact the Web team coordinators
to discuss the rejection and possible remedies and/or alternatives.
