Ways to Celebrate Diversity

  • Enroll in a Spanish class. Free classes are offered at the Clarke County Library and Goodwill Career Center- Spanish classes.
  • Join the UGA Office of Institutional Diversity listserve to keep yourself informed on diversity activities and lectures. You can join by e-mailing Susan Herda at sherda@uga.edu
  • Attend a Safe Space workshop and then display a Safe Space decal in your work place or living space.
  • Become involved with the Global Friends Peer Mentor Program. Contact UGA International Student Life at (706) 542-5867 for more information.
  • Volunteer in "Follow Me", a shadow day in which students from local area high schools visit the University of Georgia campus for a full school day. Contact Students for Latino Empowerment at (706) 542-5867 for more information.
  • Read a book by Tim Wise
  • Read a book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, renowned Colombian writer
  • Learn about Native American history
  • Enjoy the Black Theatrical Ensemble
  • Attend the International Student Life Coffee Hour every Friday during Fall and Spring from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall.
  • Attend R.E.A.L Talk - An Intercultural Dialogue Series. Check the schedule here.
  • Visit the UGA Department of Intercultural Affairs
