Multicultural Scholars Program
In Fall 2009 the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences awarded five Multicultural Scholarships for first year minority students pursuing majors in agricultural and related sciences.
The purpose of the scholarship is to support minority students studying agriculture.
Awards were presented to the following students:

Name: Brandon Hamm
Hometown: Hartwell, Georgia
High School: Hart County High School
Major: Biological Sciences
Background information: I am the first member of my family to attend college, but I hope to establish a tradition.

Name: Natalie C. Lett
Hometown: Macon, Georgia
High School: Clarke Central High School
Major: Agricultural Business/Communications
Background Information: I cherish the gift of life and feel that is my duty to be an ambassador of humanity. I am a Ministry Leader at Ebenezer Baptist Church, West. I volunteer at the Morton Theatre and the American Red Cross. I enjoyed participating as a Student Mentor for Alps Road Mentor's Program. At present I am a member of the Freshman Advisory Board for the Black Affairs Council.
Academic Achievements: Through my experiences with the CAES Young Scholars Program, I was certain to declare a major in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. I am a Clarke County Farm Bureau Scholarship Recipient. Other achievements include being a recipient of the Young Scholar Award, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc and an All A Honor Roll in Clarke Central High School.
Activities: I am a member of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) student organization. I am planning to getting knee deep in to research within the interests of my major. This year I strive to find my true gifts and talents as I plan to give extraordinary contributions as a student at UGA.

Name: Oluremi Ojo
Hometown: Stone Mountain, GA
High School: Clarke Central High School
Major: Agribusiness
Background Information: I have always been interested in a variety of activities including sports and the arts. At the age of five, I began playing soccer, the sport that truly became my passion. In middle school, I was selected to play on Georgia’s Olympic Development Team. I then went on to play for one of the top teams in Georgia in the Region III player’s league. One of the greatest achievements I have had with this team was winning the Disney World of Sports tournament in 2007.
I played the piano and the violin throughout grade school and high school and was a member of the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra in Atlanta. I also love to sing and was a member of the Harmony Youth Choir during middle school.
Academic Achievements: My academic achievements include being a Duke Tip Scholar, an A Better Chance Scholar, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and attending the National Student Leadership Conference.
At UGA I am a recipient of the CAES Multicultural Scholarship and I am a CURO Apprentice.
Activities: I am on the Freshman Advisory Board of the Black Affairs Council, as well as part of In Sickness and In Health and I am a member of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS).

Name: Kyle Walker

Major: Animal Health
Academic Achievements: My academic achievements include being recognized in Who's Who among American High School Students. I am an All American Academic Scholar and a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Representative. A Delegate in the Georgia Boys State and the Georgia Youth Summit. I obtained The University of Georgia Certificate of Merit and I am a Mathematics, Science and Engineering Academy Scholar.
Acitivities: I am a member of the University of Georgia’s Mock Trial team, the Black Affairs Council, University Chorus and enjoy the performing arts and volunteering on the side.

Name: Stephanie Guzman
High School: Atlanta, Georgia
High School: Clarke Central High School
Major: Agribusiness with a Certificate in International Agriculture.
Background information: My family lives in Athens but is originally from Colombia. I have been fortunate enough to travel to various places within the U.S., Colombia, England and Costa Rica. I love to travel and plan or participating in a Study Abroad program at UGA.
Academic Achievements: I participated in the Young Scholars Program 2009. I am a Hispanic Scholarship Fund and a Clarke County Farm Bureau Scholarship recipient.
