Description: A Master’s degree in Horticulture, Plant & Soil Sciences, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Natural Resources, or closely related area is preferred (a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable area will be considered)
The incumbent is expected to provide programming for UGA County Extension Agents and commercial clients on issues related to the blueberry industry with emphasis on applied research projects (additional audiences include other public agencies, commodity and conservation groups, community and business leaders, volunteers, youth and elected officials)

Region 4 EPA-CSREES Liaison
Office: Cooperative Extension
Description: Masters degree required. The incumbent is expected to serve as an Extension Liaison to EPA Region 4 to coordinate policies and activities between EPA and the 1862 and 1890 land grant universities in the 8 participating states in carrying out provisions of all relevant environmental legislation and programs of EPA. In doing this, the Liaison will work across all EPA Region 4 Divisions to maximize communication linkages between EPA and the eight participating States. The liaison will assist Extension administrators, water quality coordinators, specialists and agents with the development, implementation and evaluation of environmental policy and programs with consideration of EPA goals and work with Extension clientele to understand and accept their role in environmental policy. The liaison will also facilitate mutually beneficial environmental education programs to meet regional EPA and State needs and develop coordination mechanisms between the states and EPA Region 4 to facilitate timely and appropriate interaction on programs and projects of mutual interest. Assistant Dean for Extension

Description: The position is open to candidates who have a terminal degree and who can qualify for the rank of Professor in one of the College’s academic departments. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and can demonstrate expertise in the development and implementation of successful agricultural extension/outreach programming. ANIMAL WASTE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Office: Biological and Agricultural Engineering and Animal and Dairy Science
Description: M.S., Ph.D. preferred, in agricultural or natural resource field with training and background in animal science or engineering, and basic knowledge of animal waste management. The successful candidate will conduct statewide programming in animal waste management including: training sessions for certified animal feeding operations and nutrient management planners; technical support for county faculty in nutrient management planning, environmental issues related to livestock and poultry production and regulatory updates. The successful candidate will disseminate information through the publication, creation, or use of websites, bulletins, fact-sheets, newsletters, curriculums, or other appropriate media. The incumbent will also manage environmental aspects of UGA-CAES livestock research and teaching farms, collaborate with multiple departments across CAES to integrate animal waste and pollution prevention research into farm operations, and utilize research and teaching farms for environmental Extension programming. The candidate must be able to anticipate and respond to emerging animal waste issues and should be able to conduct field trials, applied research, and demonstration projects on new animal waste management technologies and practices. ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR RESEARCH

Description: The Associate Dean for Research of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will work closely with the Dean and Director and will be delegated the authority for supervision and fiscal management of research programs in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and allied programs in the School of Forest Resources, College of Family and Consumer Sciences, and USDA. This authority includes administration of all research personnel, budget planning, allocation of funds, searching for research funds, program development, participating in USDA/CSREES research planning and evaluating activities, maintaining liaison with USDA/ARS (particularly in visibility of agricultural research to the citizens of Georgia). In addition, the Associate Dean is expected to work with members of the agricultural industry and University community in identifying the most crucial problems in agricultural research and in developing plans for solving these problems. The Associate Dean is administratively responsible to the Dean and Director of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of The University of Georgia and will work closely with the other Associate Deans (Academic Affairs and Cooperative Extension) and Academic Department Heads to ensure a coordination of efforts within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Description: Provide leadership for the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics which will lead to outstanding teaching, research and extension programs and good working relations with the agricultural and natural resource community. Implement faculty, student and staff recruitment, faculty and staff performance evaluations and promotions, program planning, and professional development of faculty and staff. Description: M.S. or Ph.D. in Soil Fertility, Soil Chemistry or a related field required. Provide leadership in applied field research and education in soil test calibration (including plant tissue calibration) for vegetable and agronomic crops. Emphasis will be on addressing emerging issues such as determination of lime and fertilizer rates for current crop production systems, including conservation tillage production systems in the Coastal Plain. Incumbent will also be expected to work with a team of scientists to implement the collection of soil fertility and crop data using precision farming technologies.
