Area Extension Agent – Commercial Blueberry

Office: Cooperative Extension

Description: A Master’s degree in Horticulture, Plant & Soil Sciences, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Natural Resources, or closely related area is preferred (a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable area will be considered)

The incumbent is expected to provide programming for UGA County Extension Agents and commercial clients on issues related to the blueberry industry with emphasis on applied research projects (additional audiences include other public agencies, commodity and conservation groups, community and business leaders, volunteers, youth and elected officials)

Application Analyst Associate

Description: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a BA/BS degree in a computer-related discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience.

This position is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences information systems facilitating the collaboration, communication and reporting activities of the college's geographically dispersed faculty and staff. These systems include the college's learning management and news distribution systems as well as systems utilized by OIT in support of service delivery. As a member of the CAES Web Team, this position also provides programming support for the college's overall Web presence.

IT Professional Associate

Office: Assoc Dean for Extension

Description: BS in computer science or equivalent work related experience. Web programming experience. Linux operating system experience. This position is responsible for development of internet-based solutions for national and regional forestry/natural resource-based projects. Work involves using the latest computer technologies to complete objectives set forth by the Southern Regional Extension Forester. This employee will assist various leaders at both state and federal forestry/natural resources offices in determining web-based needs and implementing appropriate solutions, for example:

  • Develop and maintain web-based solutions for several programs and projects simultaneously
  • Assist in implementing new computer/internet technologies for extension forestry programs
  • Create and maintain extensive documentation for new and existing computer programs, systems, and services
  • Project planning and implementation as part of a regional team of specialists that include content, graphics, computing, marketing, and administration specialists.

Farm Supervisor III  

Office: Field Rsch Services Coastal

Description: High school diploma and college course work in agriculture; and extensive experience in general farm work involving farm planning, methods, and production; and experience in supervisory farm work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Work involves responsibility for planning, coordinating, and directing all aspects of the operation of a large institutional farm and its specialized subordinate and related units and equipment; supervision of skilled and unskilled farm workers; plans and supervises the planting, cultivating, harvesting and storing of field crops; directs the repair and maintenance of farm buildings and equipment; plan and direct the maintenance of research and tobacco plot areas, equipment, roads, buildings and other facilities; plan, supervise and assist in the installation and operation of irrigation systems such as laterals, pivots, solid sets and hard hoses; and all other duties involved in running day-to-day operations. EXTENSION AREA AGRONOMIST

Office: Crop and Soil Sciences

Description: M.S. in agronomy, crop science, or related field. The candidate will serve as an Area Agronomist in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, with particular emphasis on cotton in southeastern Georgia. Responsibilities will also include soybean or other agronomic crops as needed. Although duties will concentrate in the southeastern portion of the state with respect to cotton, in the case of soybean, a state-wide coverage is required . The candidate is expected to be a resource person for county agents, farmers, and other agribusiness persons and be actively involved in the development of educational information and delivery.
