Office of Communications: Resources

CAES Logos

Using CAES and Extension logos

The CAES and Extension brands are among the college's most valuable intangible assets. To maintain the integrity of the college's identity, note the following when using the CAES and Extension logos:

• CAES logos must always be reproduced from authorized original artwork suitable for reproduction. Original artwork files can be downloaded on this site. Select one of the links at the bottom of the page.

• Logos cannot be altered in any way, including slanting, distorting, drop shadows, covering with other graphics or words, or use of colors that are not official CAES/UGA colors.

• Logos can be resized but MUST be resized proportionally. Don't stretch the logo out of its original shape.

• No academic or administrative unit or department should have its own logo. By using approved logos, CAES can maximize the impact of a single graphic identity for the college as a whole. For further guidance, contact the Office of Communications at (706) 542-2956.

Which file format should I use?

EPS

EPS files will work in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and all popular page layout and word processing programs. Unless you are using the logo on the Web, USE THE EPS FILE FORMATS because the logo will maintain its crispness and integrity no matter how large or small it is reproduced. Use EPS files for documents printed by commercial offset printing or a desktop postscript printer. This is also the preferred file format for promotional items (i.e. T-shirts, mugs, mouse pads). Note that EPS files also have a transparent background.

IMPORTANT: Please note that EPS files can generally NOT be opened for viewing. Instead, select the particular logo that you want to use from this Web site and save it to a place on your computer where you will be able to find it. Then, open the document (Word document or PowerPoint presentation) and use the "insert picture" command to place the logo in your document.

JPEG

Use JPEG files in documents printed with non-postscript printers (ie: inkjet printers and personal desktop printers). While JPEG files can be placed/inserted into all popular page layout and word processing programs, JPEG logos will lose sharpness/resolution when they are enlarged. JPEG files are also the appropriate file format for the Web.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the JPEG files on this site are high-resolution files.

Instructions for accessing files

• Click on the file type of the particular logo that you want to use to access the file.

• To adjust the size of these images, place the file in a document and click and drag on the image corner to make smaller/larger. (Not the middle or side of the image, as this will distort the image). Or, in Microsoft programs, you can double-click on the image. This will take you to an image editing window, where you can also resize the image.
