CAES Student Recruitment
Everybody's job
Do you know a middle or high school student or junior college student that
needs some direction about higher education? There are several resources
available to help inform prospective CAES student about careers in the
field of agricultural and environmental sciences. Printed materials
include a CAES careers brochure and student profile handout. To request a
supply of these items, please indicate quantity needed by email to
mbowie@uga.edu or call 706/542-2956. There are also PowerPoint
presentations available on the Web.
To schedule a tour of campus, meet with an advisor or have an information packet mailed to prospective students, please contact Brice Nelson at 706/542-1611 or bricen@uga.edu.
A supply of student recruitment materials is also available in all District Extension offices. These materials include banner exhibits, posters, brochures and recruitment CDs.

County Web sites
Creating effective county Web sites
Increasingly, today's consumers look to the Web as their primary source for information. Therefore, it has become imperative that Cooperative Extension offices have a strong Web presence that presents a united front.
By using CAES templates and Adobe Contribute, the CAES recommended and supported web content management software, Georgia county offices have been empowered with the knowledge and tools to create and update their own websites.
View the Coweta County Cooperative Extension Web site for an excellent example of an effective county website.
For more information about using CAES templates and Adobe Contribute, visit the Contribute Resource Guide.

Media Relations Policy
Recently updated
A famous media pundit once said, "People don't see you as a problem-solver until they see you solving problems in the media." The media is a powerful tool to help us tell the people in Georgia, the nation and often around the world what we do. Only a few years ago, media work was fleeting – hot news today, fish wrapper tomorrow.
In today's cyber world, media stories can hang around forever. That's good and bad. Good stories have longer life and reach more people. But mistakes have longer life, too, and do more damage.
It's more important than ever that we give media accurate, appropriate information that shows our relevance and projects a positive image of the college and the university. It's also more important than ever that you are portrayed in a good light in the media.
To ensure that both of those happen as often as possible, become familiar with the CAES Media Relations Policy. This updated policy gives the faculty and staff guidelines for working with media and details opportunities to get help from OC when media call. We will do our best to help you shine in the media and keep you out of hot water.
