Soybean research
News feature
Soybean genes are taking front seat at CAES thanks to a three-year, $2.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation. For UGA's part, crop and soil sciences professor Wayne Parrott will insert a jumping gene found in rice into soybean plants. His goal is to understand which genes make a soybean grow, bloom or produce like it does. The more genes his lab identifies using the jumping gene technique, the more they'll know about the soybean and what they can do to improve it. And at OC, we're here to promote that information.
