PSA #1
This is Walter Reeves. It's no problem to plant in times of drought. Just make sure your flower bed holds onto any rainfall it receives. The best way to do that is to mix a three inch layer of soil conditioner eight inches deep in the bed. That's what professionals do...and you should, too!
Let's all do our part to be water smart, and save time, save money, and save water. Find more tips at www.conservewatergeorgia.net, or call your local UGA Cooperative Extension Office at 1-800-ASK-UGA1.

PSA #2
This is Walter Reeves. When nights get chilly, I like to snuggle under a blanket. Well, your plants need a blanket, too. It's called MULCH and it can be pine straw, pine chips, or shredded leaves. Mulch holds moisture in the soil. Put some mulch under plants, so they can SNUGGLE UP in drought.

PSA #3
This is Walter Reeves...and I admit it. I have a bucket in my tub. It's amazing how much water I used to waste while waiting for the shower water to get hot. I use it on my new trees and shrubs. A bit of soap and shampoo doesn't hurt them. Don't shower with a FRIEND...shower with a BUCKET!

PSA #4
This is Walter Reeves, with a message from my friends in the nursery and landscape business. Don't be afraid to plant, even if it's dry. We NEED green landscapes...to prevent pollution, to prevent erosion and to give us a place to play outdoors. Landscapes are part of the solution, not the problem.
