Office of Environmental Sciences
Extension & Outreach
The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension is a two way mechanism for
transferring research results to local communities and making local needs
known to scientists for research. There are more than 300 Extension agents
covering all 159 Georgia counties and connecting communities with The
University of Georgia.
Through hands-on education, adults and youth learn to use cutting edge-technology to make wise environmental decisions that affect their personal livelihood, family life and community. Recent initiatives include: the location of a watershed agent in the upper Ocmulgee, Oconee, and Altamaha River Basin, conversion of biomass to fuel for electricity and transportation needs, proper management of nutrients on poultry and livestock operations and a wellness approach to diet and lifestyle.
