Our Focus on Training
In a university setting, the demand for instructional technology support is rising - whether you teach in a traditional classroom or at a distance, you may find yourself utilizing or needing to utilize technolgies such as videoconferencing, the Internet, or even a digital slide show with multimedia elements embedded. Therefore, OIT strives to provide technical assistance for those in instruction in the following categories:
Training Tools
GoToMeeting
CAES OIT has logged over 20,000 minutes using the GoTo Meeting tool. It is utilized by the OIT Help Desk, Field Operations, Web Team and other members within the organization. The tool enables problem resolution of application software support remotely and has become an essential part of the CAES Web Team in offering Adobe Contribute on-line training.
GoToWebinar
A Webinar, or "Web seminar," is an online event designed to facilitate communication between a small number of presenters and a large remote audience using the Internet. Webinars reach audiences more effectively than regular in-person events because there is no need to plan travel or reserve conference space.
Wimba (Live Classroom)

Content can include PowerPoint slides or any images, HTML-Based content, multimedia formats such as Flash, Shockwave, Real, and QuickTime, Adobe Acrobat PDF documents, and any other content that can be viewed in a Web browser. Presenters can prepare their content ahead of time or create new content "on-the-fly" using the eBoard tool.
WebCT
WebCT is an online course development tool. Instructors may use it to supplement a coures by having a syllabus posted online or maybe even class notes. Or, it can be used to deliver an entire course online. The links below will provide you with more information on this product. OIT can provide technical guidance in the use of WebCT.
