Landscape training series unveils new title, DVDs

University of Georgia

The University of Georgia Extension Service has released its newest "SuperCrew" landscape employee training video and now has the entire eight-title series on DVD.

For more than 10 years, UGA Extension has worked with landscape industry leaders to produce, in both English and Spanish, this series of employee training videos for landscape professionals.

The newest title, "The Employee's Role in Landscape Problem Solving," was released in June 2005. It discusses the importance of scouting for pests each day on the job and reporting problems to the supervisor. It includes a discussion of many common insects, diseases and environmental problems landscape employees should know.

Besides the traditional VHS format, the entire series is also available now on DVD. You no longer need to buy English and Spanish versions separately, either. English and Spanish versions of each training are now on the same DVD or VHS tape.

What's included

Each SuperCrew training module comes with an instructor's manual in both English and Spanish. The manual has discussion questions and multiple-choice exams to give employees after they view the training. The cost is $49.95 per title, with discounts when buying four or more titles.

The Georgia Green Industry Association, Metro Atlanta Landscape and Turf Association, Georgia Turfgrass Association and Professional Grounds Management Society all endorse the Employee Training series. The tapes and DVDs can be bought from each organization and from the DeKalb County Extension Office.

Order forms and further details about the series are on-line at http://pubs.caes.uga.edu/caespubs/Supercrew.htm.
