Sunbelt Expo Field Day set for July 8

Farmers can see firsthand the latest seed varieties, chemicals, irrigation and precision agriculture technology at the Sunbelt Ag Expo Field Day at Spence Field in Moultrie, Ga., July 8.

The field day is a preview for the Sunbelt Ag Expo, which will be October 14-16.

The field day includes tours of 130 field plots, focusing on traditional row crop varieties. Two major irrigation sites are also included.

Scientists with the University of Georgia peanut and cotton teams will present their latest research. The U.S. Department of Agriculture-UGA pearl millet team will be there, too.

The Georgia Soil & Water Conservation Commission will highlight the agriculture water conservation program, the agriculture water metering program, Irrigator Pro and the mobile irrigation lab.

Tour trams start at 8:30 a.m. Free lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m. A grand prize and door prizes will be awarded.
