D.W. Brooks Awards and Lecture

A reception was held in the Pecan Tree Galleria at 10:00 a.m. followed by the lecture at 11:00 a.m. in Mahler Auditorium. The 2011 speaker was Dr. Jo Luck, former president of Heifer International and the 2010 co-winner of the World Food Prize.

Dr. Jo Luck

Former Heifer International President Jo Luck was recently named co-recipient of The World Food Prize—only the third woman to be so honored—for her work through Heifer to ensure availability and sustainability of food to people in need around the world.

Dr. Luck presented this year's lecture preceding the presentation of the 2011 D.W. Brooks Faculty Awards for Excellence. The awards are given annually to UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences faculty members who excel in teaching, research, Extension, public service or global programs.
