Application Information

Program dates: June 1 - July 10, 2015.

YSP 2015 applications open October 15, 2014 and close January 31, 2015. Students will be notified of their selection by April 1, 2015.

View the Young Scholars Internship Brochure for eligibility and application information. Housing fees are the responsibility of the young scholar.

2014 Program Highlights

2014 Class of CAES Young Scholars

The 2014 Young Scholars Internship Program concluded on July 11, 2014. There were 24 students on the Athens campus, 27 students on the Griffin campus, and 14 students on the Tifton Campus. Following the application and interview process, 65 students emerged as the 2014 Young Scholars Program participants. Among the three campuses, 19 will be entering the University of Georgia, 9 of which will be in the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences.

Athens StudentsThe Young Scholars Program participants from the Athens campus visited many sites during the summer in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. These departments include Poultry Science, Entomology and Food Science & Technology. Athens Scholars also traveled to the Sandy Creek Nature Center to learn about Mothing.

Griffin StudentsParticipants in Griffin traveled to the United States Department of Agriculture APHIS facility and to Dauset Trails for a tour about the importance of perpetuating native plants in the environment.

Tifton StudentsParticipants in Tifton experienced the UGA Tifton Campus, NESPAL, and various work areas from farm fields to greenhouses. Tifton also hosted brown bag lunches with guest speakers about ongoing research on campus. In addition, Tifton Scholars travled to a 20-acre alligator farm, the Sunbelt Expo, Ms. Becky Perry's bulldog breeding kennel and the Lane Southern Orchards.
