Eleven University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) graduates were recognized on this year’s Bulldog 100 list of the fastest-growing businesses owned or operated by UGA alumni during the 11th annual celebration on Feb. 8 at Sanford Stadium.

Much like their counterparts across the nation, farmers in Georgia have experienced increased rates of suicide and stress over the last decade. To help curb these statistics, University of Georgia faculty are working to understand the causes of rural stress and to build systems that can help rural communities support community members in crisis.

William "Bill" Branch, a professor in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences and a peanut breeder with the University of Georgia, has been named to the Georgia Seed Development Professorship in Peanut Breeding and Genetics.

Just shy of a year after an electrical fire gutted the interior of the building, the restoration of the chapel at University of Georgia Cooperative Extension’s Rock Eagle 4-H Center near Eatonton, Georgia, is nearing completion.

San Jose Scale is predicted to be particularly bad this year for peach growers, as this pest is active in temperatures over 51 degrees Fahrenheit, “so we’ve already had a lot of days for this pest population to grow,” said University of Georgia Peach Entomologist Brett Blaauw.
