Program Overview

What is the Emerging Scholars Internship?

The Emerging Scholars Internship offers undergraduate students, including those enrolled at 1890 land-grant institutions, the opportunity to conduct research alongside faculty from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) at the University of Georgia. This seven-week, residential program in Athens, Georgia, is designed for students who are considering graduate studies in agriculture or related sciences and have a strong interest in research.

Emerging Scholars will engage in hands-on research projects alongside CAES scientists, gaining valuable experience in preparation for potential graduate studies. Interns will receive a monthly stipend and housing allowance and will be mentored by a renewed faculty member from the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Throughout the program, scholars will conduct supervised research in agricultural and environmental sciences and will conclude their experience by preparing a scientific research poster and delivering a formal presentation of their findings.
